Remember when blogger was easy to use? That was cool.

So, I haven't been on this thing in a while.... Mostly because every time I've tried to use it since the whole Google merger/acquisition it's been too much of a pain to get on. But now I'm in Chicago where I think I just took 2 days worth of work and finished it before lunch, so I kind of have some time on my hands. Yes, things are going well at the new job. Not so very new anymore... 6 months in.

I got that new car. Not the one I was talking about because, frankly, Blithe was not as Bacchus friendly as I had hoped. So, I got a Kia Rio5. Her name is Mia. Bacchus has already barfed in it twice. Good boy. But the price was about the same. Not sure I'll actually succeed in paying her off in a year. There are other priorities. I took up Telemark skiing and need to buy a tele setup, Mia needs a ski/bike rack, and then there's the season pass so I can use the skis and ski rack... and car. Whew! One toy is never enough.

So here I am in Chicago on business. 6th floor, corner office, overlooking the lake. The hotel I'm staying in is right next door. If I had left the curtains open this morning, I'd be able to see in my room. Good to know. Nobody wants to be "ugly naked guy" from Friends. Traveling on business is kind of a sweet gig. I get to charge everything on my personal credit card (which earns me $$$ in the form of my REI dividend), and then get paid back for it all before the credit card bill comes. cha-ching. My coworkers today took advantage of my expense account privileges. "Hey, you ready to take us out to lunch now?" Me: "Sure, why not. Your office is paying for it."

I'm pretty much loving my new job all around. When I'm in Denver, my office is about 3 easy miles away from my house, so biking is the preferred mode of transport. My desk is situated directly under a skylight, so I get plenty of sun in my life (as opposed to my old office which was, at one time, a bank vault so I was surrounded by 6" of concrete). The general atmosphere in the office is so laid back. Thursday afternoons is "Design Time". It's a meeting held at the end of the day where we sit in a conference room and shoot around ideas about design and sustainability. It occurs after hours and is therefore on our own time. They entice you to show up by offering free beer. It works. Turnout is usually pretty good.

Wow, this is a pretty boring blog. But, I'm bored, so I guess that makes sense. Okay, I'm done. Mostly I just wanted to get back on this thing so that it didn't get discontinued on me.
